Are you interested in becoming the next Honorary Mayor of San Pedro? Join us for the information session to have your questions answered from past candidates and campaign managers. Attendance at an orientation session is required if you are planning to participate in the campaign. 

The Honorary Mayor Campaign is an official program of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce.  It is designed to be an opportunity for San Pedro residents and business representatives to celebrate and highlight our nonprofit community.   Through the campaign, candidates raise funds for local nonprofit organizations.  The candidate raising the most funds is declared the Honorary Mayor of San Pedro for two years and will represent the Chamber at community events and meetings.

Timeline

Applications will be accepted from January 18 , 2025 – February 16, 2025, until 5:00 p.m.

Candidates and their campaign managers must attend an orientation meeting.  We will have two orientation meetings:  Tuesday, January 31st at 4 pm and Friday, February 7th at 12 noon.  The meetings will be held at 390 W. 7th Street in the Chamber's boardroom.  

Campaign kick-off will be at our February Breakfast with the Chamber on Friday, February 28, 2025.

The 2025-2027 San Pedro Honorary Mayor will be announced at the Chamber's Annual Luncheon. 

General Guidelines

Candidates for Honorary Mayor must be a minimum of 18 years of age; either reside or work in San Pedro and be sponsored by one or more 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations that serve the community of San Pedro.

Individual Honorary Mayor candidates and their sponsoring organization(s) assume full responsibility for all campaign expenses.  

The San Pedro Honorary Mayor Campaign is an official event of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber is a 501 © (6) Non-Profit membership organization, and each candidate’s application will be evaluated and approved to participate for the honorary position by the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. The Board of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, or Committee authorized by the Board will approve candidates.  The mission of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce is to promote, support, and advocate the interests of the business community. Our vision is to make San Pedro a better place to live, work, and visit.
