  • Filming in Downtown San Pedro

The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce support filming in our community.  The film industry supports thousands of jobs in the greater Los Angeles region and brings in much needed revenue to the City of Los Angeles.  San Pedro has been home to many film and television productions due to our historic downtown, beautiful neighborhoods and proximity to the Port of Los Angeles.  While we strongly support the film industry, we expect all filming in our community be handled with courtesy and professionalism.  Filming impacts the day to day operations of our businesses and the daily lives of our residents during a film shoot.

The Chamber works closely with FilmLA to help ensure that our businesses and neighborhoods have the opportunity to engage during the filming notification process and to communicate during the film shoot if there are concerns or issues.  The Chamber has a FilmLA Liaison, Linda Alexander, who works with film productions and our business community to help facilitate conversation so that problems can be addressed early or in real time.  Linda can be reached by email at lalex@cox.net or by calling her at (310) 971-3440.

Downtown San Pedro has Special Filming Conditions that have been established and adopted by our community, and are provided to production companies and location managers and scouts.  These special conditions can be found by clicking on the following link: Special Filming Conditions San Pedro Business District.

We strongly encourage our community to sign-up for E-Notices of filming to receive early notification of filming activity:  E-Notices.

During film shoots, there are professionals that can assist you:

    1. Location Manager: Names and phone numbers of Location Managers ae on the e-notices and doorknob notices. If they are not on “set” they can communicate with the Locations Manager on set. You can ask crew to locate them for you.
    2. FilmLA Monitors: Our Special Conditions require that the production companies pay for a film monitor to assure permit requirements are being met.  They tend to be men and they wear pale blue uniform shirts. If you don’t see them, you can call FilmLA (also tele number on notices) and ask that they contact you.
    3. San Pedro Chamber Film Liaison: Linda Alexander: 310-971-3440 or lalex@cox.net.
